Ventra Updates for COVID-19

If you applied for a one-time credit for remaining days left on an active 7-or 30-day pass from March, we are working on processing it. You will see prorated Transit Value credit appear in the cardholder’s Ventra account once complete. Note, all requests for credits had to be received no later than April 13, 2020.

Tips for Riding

If you are not using transit at this time, below is helpful information regarding your Ventra account – specifically how to make the best use of any existing, inactive passes and other steps you can take to reduce your cost burden.

Unlimited Ride Passes (1-, 3-, 7-, 30-Day passes)

Passes are only activated when tapped at a rail station or on a bus, so if you do not need to ride CTA using one of these passes, simply save your Ventra Card with un-activated passes until things return to normal.

You can log in to your account online or in the Ventra app to see if you have any active or inactive passes.

Note, if your Ventra transit account has multiple fare products, it will deduct from your passes first before using transit value. Learn more here.

Deactivating Autoload

If you have autoload enabled, you can easily deactivate that feature through the Ventra app or on the website. Just log in to your account with your Ventra username and password and turn off the autoload setting. Forgot your credentials? No problem! Retrieve your username and password here.

And it’s just as easy to re-activate autoload when things get back to normal.

Pre-tax Transit Benefits

If you use your employer’s pre-tax transit benefits program, you can contact your employer’s administrator to turn off a 30-Day Pass or Transit Value deposits. Administrators must submit these changes prior to the 20th for the coming month; these deposits generally load to your account on the 26th of each month. Please note that employers or third party administrators may take some time to process your request.
