How to activate your Ventra™
Card after it arrives by mail

  1. Log in to your Account

    You’ll need to log in to your Account with your username and password.

    Log in or Don't know your username or password?

  2. Get your access code

    After you log in, retrieve your access code under “Account Settings.” If you’ve never logged in, you will create an access code when you set up your Account. Just log in with your username and password and follow the steps.

  3. Call to activate

    Then call 1.888.824.8802. Have your Ventra Card number and access code ready.

  4. Start using your Card

    Now, you’ll be able to add transit value or passes online, at Ventra Vending Machines, over the phone or at participating Ventra retailers.

Important notes for Chicago Card Plus users:

Your remaining Chicago Card Plus balance will be transferred over to your new Ventra Account.

Your autoload settings do not carry over to your new Ventra Card. You will have to configure these settings for each Card on your Account after activation.

Using an old Chicago Card Plus after it’s been transitioned over to a Ventra Account will result in rides being billed against the balance on your Ventra Account.
