About Ventra Card Registration

Ventra Card registration is simple and provides you with all of the benefits of the modern, easy-to-use Ventra fare payment system.

Why should I register my Ventra Card?

Registering your Card creates a personal account for you that makes your transit experience safer and more convenient by providing several benefits:

  • The $5 Ventra Card purchase fee is refunded as stored transit value when you register within 90 days of purchase.
  • Your account balance is protected if your Card is lost or stolen. If you don't register your Card, you will lose unused balances on your account once your Card expires or if you lose your Card.
  • You have access to easy account management online, by phone or via the Ventra App, so you can add unlimited-ride passes and transit value, set autoload preference and view ride history.
  • A new Ventra Card is automatically mailed to you for free before your current Card expires.

It’s easy! You can register your Ventra Card in one of three ways:

How do I know if my Ventra Card is registered?

If you purchased your Card online or over the phone, your Card is registered and your account is set up. Don't remember your login? No problem! Retrieve your username and password here.

If you bought your Card at a Ventra Vending Machine or at a participating Ventra retailer, you would have to register your Card on your own online or by phone.

If you can’t remember, simply go to "Register A Card." Enter your Card information and click "Next Steps." If your Card is already registered, you will see a message letting you know that and will be prompted to log in to your account.

What if I need to update my information because I’ve moved?

If you have moved since you got your Ventra Card, be sure that Ventra has your current address by logging into your account on ventrachicago.com, via the Ventra App or by calling customer service at (877) 669-8368.
